Willamette Valley Hop Festival Beer Cruise, September 28, 2013

My brother in law Paul said let's go to a Hop Festival.  Said 7 Brides in Silverton Oregon will be serving one of our local favorites, Railside Brewing of Washougal Washington.  So off we went.  And it rained 2 1/2 inches that day.

First stop, 7 Brides Brewing in Silverton for their Brews for Bras Septober Hop fest.  Though it was still pretty early, and since we got wrist bands after an hour or so we headed out for another destination.

Rogue Farms south of Independence Oregon.  Now the rain was really starting to come down, but here at Rogue the Hazel Nut Ale was a mighty tasty pint.

On our way down to Rogue Farms we passed through Independence Oregon and couldn't help but notice that they too were having a hop festival.  So yeah, on our way back we just had to stop and check it out.

Once upon a time little Independence Oregon was the absolute dead center of the hop universe in the US as nearly all hops grown in the US were being grown right here.  That top dog honor has since shifted up to the Yakima valley in Washington, but this part of the Willamette valley is working hard to bring the trophy back home.

Back in Salem again, and we stopped at Santiam Brewing.  Santiam's claim to fame is their cask aged beer, and the beer pump, like one see's all over Europe.

Last stop, back to the Septober fest at 7 Brides.  Now it's raining like a sombitch, but there is still a pretty decent crowd enjoying some really good beers from all over the area.

Yeah, we had a pretty good day, and all the rain only added to the adventure.
